Q2 ‘24 Product Release: Expanding Data Context and Streamlining Security Team Workflows

Q2 was a busy quarter at Censys, with 19 customer-facing releases across Search and Attack Surface Management, 20 rapid response alerts, and 13 releases related to feature requests. Not to mention the various data and attribution related upgrades aimed at equipping security teams with the most accurate and comprehensive view of internet intelligence data.

Let’s dive into some of the items that were delivered in Q2.

Building Deeper Context, Minus the Noise

New Releases: CVE Context on Search, CVE Context Beta on ASM, New Fingerprints and Protocol Coverage

Every vendor says they have the best data. At Censys, the proof is in the pudding, and building on our best-in-class data to ensure unmatched internet intelligence is a constant priority. To continue building on that this quarter, we are excited to introduce CVE Context into our platform!

CVE Context on Search is now available and searchable in the host dataset to add more real-time context to the threat landscape. This add-on module helps ensure security teams won’t have to rely on fragmented sources of information and time-consuming research to stay on top of CVE information.

CVE Information

Within ASM, CVE context brings CVSS scores and any applicable KEV data into the frame within the Risks view. This means that while tracking your attack surface with Censys, customers can gauge if or why a risk is applicable to them and its potential severity.

On top of that important context, we’ve also continued our improvements to the underlying data that fuels these insights, adding in over 200 new fingerprints, 46 new scanners, and other tweaks to continue delivering contextualized views, minus the noise.

Streamlining Security Operations

New Releases: Saved Query Automation, Relative Time Variables for Search and ASM

We are excited to share a new feature, called Saved Query Automation. Many users leverage queries in ASM to track noteworthy items in their attack surface, and with this release, they can set up email alerts to get alerted when changes occur to the outputs of their saved query. This helps automate the process of needing to rerun queries and note any changes. More ways to get alerted beyond email are on the way!

And speaking of querying, many users use our real-time data to query for items that are new or need immediate attention in ASM, or to just get the most out of our data freshness while querying in Search. Updates to our query language across ASM and Search help support more automated discoveries via relative time variables in our query language.

For example, in ASM, you can use time bound queries to track assets discovered today, risks discovered in the past 3 days, or domains expiring tomorrow. In Search, you can more easily track things like hosts updated in the past hour, CVEs with KEV data added in the past 6 months, or certificates revoked in the past 8 hours.
