Censys ARC is a team of experienced security and threat researchers with diverse backgrounds in specialized security analysis, engineering, research publication, and more. Meet the faces behind the research.

Emily Austin is a researcher with Censys ARC, studying security threats and other interesting Internet phenomena.

Silas Cutler is a Principal Security Researcher with Censys ARC where he focuses on tracking organized cyber-crime groups. Silas brings over a decade of experience investigating and responding to incidents such as Solarwinds, Shamoon, WannaCry, and other destructive attacks.

Chris Dehghanpoor manages the Censys ARC Rapid Response team, bringing nearly 20 years of information security experience. He began his career in detection engineering for managed security providers before joining the research team at Lookout, where he contributed to investigations into Smart Sheriff and BrainTest. Before joining Censys, Chris spent three years as an investigative reporter at The Washington Post, specializing in OSINT reporting and serving on the Emmy-nominated team that covered the Jack Teixeira Discord leaks.

Mark Ellzey is a Senior Security Researcher with Censys ARC. Before his current role, Mark has worked as both a network security engineer and software developer for several internet service providers and financial institutions for over 22 years.

Matthew Guidry is a Senior Product Detection Engineer with Censys ARC, bringing 20 years of experience in cybersecurity and network administration. He focuses on identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities within enterprise systems. Matthew specializes in recreating attack chains to validate detection logic and developing automated workflows that drive faster incident response.

Aidan Holland is a Senior Cybersecurity Researcher and Software Engineer at Censys ARC, where he specializes in threat intelligence and internet-wide security research. His work focuses on identifying and analyzing malicious infrastructure, tracking threat actors, and developing tools for security analysis at scale. Aidan is an active contributor to the open source security community, building and maintaining tools for threat hunting, data analysis, and security automation.

Himaja Motheram is a Censys ARC Security Researcher who is passionate about continuous learning and tackling complex challenges in vulnerability measurement. As a co-host of the Storm⚡️Watch podcast, she discusses emerging threats, industry trends, and new research. As a proud University of Michigan graduate, she values sharing knowledge and tools to help the security community

Andrew Northern is a Principal Security Researcher with Censys ARC focused on tracking the apex predators of the initial-access ecrime landscape. His work targets the most capable operators, uncovering novel attack chains and dynamic web-delivered malware while mapping the infrastructure that enables them. He has earned multiple MITRE ATT&CK citations, discovered and named several espionage-focused malware families, and published research that exposes previously unknown tradecraft.

Michael is currently serving as the Senior Director of Research and Security for Censys.
Michael has over 20 years of experience in Information Technology and Security, with a career spanning help desk support, systems engineering, and government contracting. He has served as an FBI Intelligence Analyst focused on Counterterrorism and Cybersecurity, an Android malware reverse engineer at Lookout, as well as cybersecurity leadership positions at Target and AWS. Michael holds a BA in Political Science from the University of Michigan, an MS in Defense and Strategic Studies from Missouri State, and an MS in Computer Science from the University of Illinois – Springfield.
